65-Year-Old woman beaten to death after dispute over applying colour in Jhk;  accused absconding

A 65-year-old woman was beaten to death by a group of six people when she tried to stop them from applying color on her son at Amor Nima village under Balbadda police station in Godda on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Bucchi Devi.

Girdhar Gopal, an officer at the Balbadda police station, said on Thursday that a heated argument broke out between Bucchi and a group, including a woman, after she stopped them from applying paint on her son Murari. "The mother and her son were then attacked and beaten black and blue by the men until they both lost consciousness. Murari, when he regained consciousness, checked on the mother and found her dead. The deceased was taken to Godda Sadar Hospital where doctors declared her brought dead ,” said Gopal.

He said an FIR was lodged against six persons in the evening. "The attackers are residents of the same area. Efforts are on to arrest them," Gopal said. However, no arrests had been made by Thursday evening.

Named in the FIR are Pappu Mandal, Lalit Mandal, Subhash Mandal, Hiralal Mandal, Ranjit Mandal and Nilam Devi of the same village. All the accused are absconding, police said.
